Tomorrow’s the last day of school for us… for most of us, I guess. Because tomorrow will be the day that marks the end of a huge chapter of the seniors -- the Queen Seniors.
Before everything else, I’d like to say that technology never fails to amaze me, because batch pride has become more intense and more amazing. It just blows me off my seat sometimes.
So here it goes. Queen Seniors. I don’t have a handful of friends here -- a handful of acquaintances, I think -- but I think this school year was a way of me getting to know these people. They’re the most populated batch so far (5 sections!), and in my opinion, they’re the most creative, most vicious, and most astounding batch. Of course I find my batch creative, vicious, and astounding too. *cough* Bias. *cough*
To be honest, I really don’t know where to start. There’s a lot to say about them! From what I’ve heard, a lot of students from the lower years find them very artsy. From what I’ve observed since freshman year, these people are different. They’re all passionate when it comes to accomplishing school-related things, which is really quite something.
Going back to what I said, they’re the most creative, most vicious, and most astounding batch.
Creative because their ideas are sick. Really sick. Like during the sportsfest last January, they all had the same icons on twitter, which to me represented unity. During culminating activities, they always had a short video presentation prepared. And they were actually the first if I’m not mistaken) to come up with a name for their batch: Queen Seniors. Have I mentioned their yearbook cover? One word: awesome.
Vicious because whenever they join any competition, they make sure nobody interferes them. They are focused and driven. Evidences are of those from this year’s sportsfest, and most culminating activites. When these queens want something, they make sure they get it.
Astounding because they really come up with the slickest stuff. They all differ from each other, just like puzzle pieces. But once you connect the pieces, or unite them, it’s like receiving a gift from the heavens.
If you’ve been reading my blog posts for the past few weeks (I guess not), I’ve mentioned over and over that I like different. And by different, things that stand out. Things that are bizarre, but awesome. Despite the rivalry between my batch and their batch, I’ve always looked up to them. I just don’t show it, mainly because there’s this thing called pride that exists.
If you’re a senior and you’re reading this… uh, hi. I wish all the best for you guys, because you guys deserve the best. I would like to congratulate you for surviving high school and giving me the chance to know who you are. I’d like to thank you for standing out from all the rest. It seems stupid thanking you for being different, but mind you, it’s for a reason. It’s taught me that in life, there are some things you may see in a bad way, but they turn out to be different in a good way.
I hope you guys have prepared a lot of Kleenex for tomorrow. I hope you wouldn’t starting sobbing out loud, because I am quite emotional and I can easily empathise.
Remember, life has a beginning and an end, and finishing high school is both. It may be a bad ending, because you will be leaving the place that made you who you are today.
You will be leaving the classrooms where you gained tons of friends.
You will be leaving the canteen with the weirdest food servings (carbonara with soup-like sauce, anyone?).
You will be leaving the teachers that sucked at pronouncing long, mind-boggling words, the teachers that made you want to get a knife and stab them, the teachers that did their best to make you laugh but failed, the teachers that have a special place in your heart, and much more.
You will be leaving the gym where you came, saw, and conquered.
You will be leaving the almighty office of the school’s loved lola where you had your diaries signed, where you had your conferences, where you did works during suspension, and where you received homilies at any time of the day.
You will be leaving the plaza de asemblea (I don’t know how to spell it and I’m too lazy to google its spelling) wherein tons of flag ceremonies have been held.
You will be leaving the chapel grounds and your tambayans where you’d usually stay or hang out before going home together.
And most of all, you will be leaving your younger sisters: us (This sounds awkward if you’ve got crushes or lovers from the lower years, so kindly ignore this if you have). *Cue Gotta Go My Own Way here*
Starting June, you guys will be college students already (captain obvious speaking). You will become independent and more adult-like. From queens you will be peasants (sorry), trying to find your place in the huge university you’ll be going to. You will start from scratch again. Say hell-o to profs, boys, and more schoolworks. Don’t be afraid, because I know you guys will make it and I believe in you all.
Tomorrow, I expect a ton of laughter, a gallon of tears, and a bucketful of memories in school. Cry your hearts out, but save your other tears for graduation day itself. It’s lame to see you go, really. But life sucks and adults say it’s for the best. I hope you had a blast in high school, and I hope you guys start your own roads to success. As I raise my invisible glass of wine, cheers! Here’s to the future engineers, lawyers, doctors, teachers, artists, architects, and more. I hope you’re as happy as I am for you all, because you guys deserve happiness. See you all soon. :-)
